There are comic books for sale on the internet like never before. The sites that are now the most popular are the ones that are really organized with multiple ways to making your purchases of the comic books you desire.

The sites that cover the entire gauntlet of comics are the best places to search for the comic books you desire. This is one of the instances when larger really is better. When the site had the Golden Age of comics covered along with the Silver Age of comic and the Bronze Age of comics, the one you need or desire should be there.

For many fans of this literary art form, the hard to find comics are at times a hit or miss venture. That is why when you have a comic book cravings you search out those that have a similar taste. The sites that are run by comic book readers and collectors are then your best place to conduct your searches and business.

These are the sites that take the time to help you, their loyal visitors find what they need no matter how hard or rare the issue is.

Just remember when you are searching for the hard and rare comics, which this is an art form and the prices have reflected this. Just last year the Action Comics Number 1 featuring superman went for $1.5 million. Most artists that paint just wish they could pull that in for a life time.

So remember when looking for comic books for sale, the price might be high, but only for a rare issue. The average price per issue is still below a $1 so you can enjoy as many as you find interesting.

If you are looking for discounted comic books then the internet is your best friend. There are thousands of sites there that can give you access to nearly every comic book that has ever been written and published.

The site I like the best when searching to purchase a comic book is comic book cravings. This place has the organization that makes finding what I want and need very easy.

The two most popular comic publishers of all times are DC Comics and Marvel Comics. By placing them all together and subcategorized it is really easy to find just what you want. For those that would rather search by period there is also the Golden Age, Silver Age and Bronze Age comics to roam thru to find the one you want.

Other publishers that have their own spaces include Golden Key comics, Mirage Studios, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, and Harvey Comics. This is also the place to find the ever popular Archie Comics.

At the time of this article there was a lot of 8 Archie Comics being sold for only $0.99 that was dated from 1971. There was also a Veronica #202 first print comic book 1st Kelvin for less than $10.

The number and condition is varied since the sources of the comics are independent. The better ones come in protective coverings. There are even some that mothers are placing on here in bulk just to get rid of them.

Each time I visit the selection is different but it never leaves me wanting. I even enjoy just roaming sometimes to see what is out there on the market. One thing I can count on in each visit is there are plenty of discounted comic books for sale.

The 10 top comic book heroes of all times include many familiar faces. The top three are very easy to figure out and the number one is a no brainer. With the highest selling price for a number one issue, several TV series and numerous movies it is of course Superman.

The second slot is highly debatable. If you look at longevity and strength of character then it would have to place Batman ahead of Spiderman. The Dark Knight has been around almost as long as superman. He too has had several TV series and movies to his portfolio. The reason he is billed above Spiderman is because when SpiderMan was being created, Batman had a TV running at that time that was highly popular.

Now we move on to the number three comic hero of all times, the Amazing Spiderman. He has the all time top money making first issue sale for a silver age comic. He too has numerous TV series and movies, plus he is just exciting to watch.

Now on to the X-man that outshined them all, the one and only Wolverine. He not only was the focus of the comic always getting into trouble, but the movies have done the same. What few do not remember is the Wolverine started out as a villain to go against the Incredible Hulk. His first appearance had him playing that part in the 1974 Hulk issue number 181.

Another team player that shined above the rest was The Thing of the Fantastic Four. He made his first rock hard appearance in 1961 with the rest of his team. Most loved was how his no nonsense approach and how he was ready to pulverize anything.

The rest of the list is somewhat more confrontational that the first leading 5 but it is leading with the Incredible Hulk, the Wonder Woman, Conan the Barbarian, the Green Lantern and Captain America.

This is the most accurate 10 top comic book heroes of all times. You will have your opinion, buy each one of these deserve a place at the top.

The first Avenger was Captain America back before America joined in the fight to rid the world of the Nazi nemesis. This is the story of Steve Rogers and what could happen if you volunteer for an experiment involving your body and the US Government. The hope was to turn a sickly man into someone that could help the war effort.

While the movie about Captain America, the First Avenger has not yet been released, the comic book hero already has back in 1941. Since that first issue of Captain America Comics #1 was published there have been over 210 million copies sold in over 75 different countries. While the theme has always been popular, it disappeared in the 1950’s due to the lack of interest in war following the stalemate of the Korean War.

The popularity of this superhero that had no super powers other than being in great shape and knowing how to fight was revitalized in 1963. From that point on, the series was not continuous but he kept making appearances with the Fantastic Four, Ironman and with other avengers fight criminals when there was no war to fight. He was even killed off in 2007, but then reemerged later that year when his death was just caroming thru time.

This is what is so great about comic books and the heroes depicted in them. It does not have to make sense or be held by the physical properties of our world, because they live in the comic book world where anything goes.

The popularity of Captain America and the resurgence of patriotism has made it possible for this great American to make it to the big screen. From what has been released the character will not stray too far from the original theme of the comic book written back in 1941.

Thor the God of Thunder is the son of Odin and Jord. He is a Norse God that lived in Asgard many years ago. Unlike many of the other comic book heroes, Thor was a real life mythical being that had real temples built in his honor.

The mythical God of Thunder had been depicted with a red beard and hair, Stan Smith made him a blond in 1962 when he appeared in the comic Journey into Mystery in August of 1962. From the beginning he was one of the top members of the Avengers’ and he appeared in numerous series with other Avengers and in a limited series run.

It was not until 1966 did Thor get his own self title series named the Might Thor. This was going to be the 126 number of the Journey into Mystery until the title change. For this reason the very first Thor titled comic book is number 126.

This series ran uninterrupted from 1966 until 1996. That was a straight 30 years in which 376 issues were published. The publication ran for another 6 years from 1998 until 2004 where 85 issues were published. The third volume began again in 2007 and is still running today with 29 issues published so far.

Because of the full length feature film of Thor being released in 2011, Marvel comics have decided to run additional special feature issues in its honor.

One of the most unusual occurrences will happen next month. The original title of Journey into Mystery will be a series being published that stars Thor. Its number will be 622. At the same time the Might Thor comic will continue to be published.

The series titled Journey into Mystery will be written by the original writers of the series Kieron Gillen and Doug Braithwaite while the Might Thor will be written by Matt Fraction.

What is for sure is that Thor the God of Thunder will be all over the place coming next month.

The Green Lantern is the latest comic book hero to hit the big screen. What few fans seem to realize is this is one of the superheroes that was fighting the Nazi’s before America ever joined in WWII.

The Green Lantern is more than just one superhero, but a group that located a set of rings from outer space. They were powered by magic. This was the original theme of the ring and the powers.

As time progressed, the story line had changed. Today the ring is powered by technology and was only awarded to the most honorable men. Each one of them would then join the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps. They have also joined the Justice League.

The best friend of the Green Lantern has always been the Flash. This was true back in the Golden Age Comics when they first appeared and it was true when this superhero made his reappearance in the Silver Age of Comics.

The publication of the Green Lantern has been spotty over the years. The first series ran from 1941 to 1949. Then it he was brought back in 1960 and ran until 1972. It was back again in 1976 for a 10 year run then shut down for 4 years. In 1990 publication stated up again and has run continuous until the present time except for a slight interruption at the end of 2004.

As of this time there have been 483 different issues published in 4 different volumes over the life of the Green Lantern. Now in 2011 they are hitting the big screen to thrill a whole new generation of fans.

Believe it or not a first issue SpiderMan goes for $1.1 million. This is a 49 year old comic that is still in near mint condition. This is the debut issue of SpiderMan in the Amazing Fantasy comic issue number 15 priced at 12 cents.

While the Golden Age of comics still has the record for the highest price ever paid for a comic book at $1.5 million for a fist issue with Superman from 1938, this is a Silver age comic, for which this price is the highest.

The story behind this particular comic is one of luck that turned out to be funny for the publisher of the comic. This issue along with SpiderMan was set to be canceled before it ever hit the newsstands. It was first casted with the title Amazing Adult Fantasy and was almost trashed because they thought it would not sell. To the publishers big surprise it was the largest seller that Marvel had ever put out up to that time in 1962.

Because of the lack of space and forethought about how valuable this original art work would be, it is all lost to time. It was given away to whoever would take it and has not been seen for years. All that is left is the few remaining issues that were not destroyed by those that read this comic book in their youth.

Most comic book fans again are going thru the pain of knowing they enjoyed and then displaced their old comic books from their youth. This is all a part of being young and carefree. For those that just took better care of their possession maybe you can witness a SpiderMan goes for $1.1 million of your very own.

The amazing Spiderman has been a super hero now for 49 years. His first appearance was in the Amazing Fantasy issue #15 in 1962. The Amazing Spiderman comic first saw publication in March of 1963. In the next 10 years 100 different issues were published.

Since that early beginning there has been a continuous flow of Spiderman comics to the stands until December 1998. This was when the “Final Chapter” was published as issue number 441. It was 1 month before another Amazing Spiderman comic was published. The delay was never know, just the absence felt by all of his fans.

The Amazing Spiderman Volume 2 appeared in January 1999 with the Spider-Man Imposter, Scorpion. This went on for 58 issues. In December of 2003 the number continued as if volume 2’s number were immaterial. This was the 500 issue of Spiderman named “Happy Birthday”.

This continued until December 2007 when publication number 545. This was also when it was announced that the Amazing Spider-Man would be published for circulation 3 times a month. This began in January 2008 with issue number 546 and 674 is where it now stands today in March of 2011.

As of today there are 674 comic books titled as the Amazing Spider-Man, with numerous guest appearances in other strips like the X-men. There were also 12 different television series and appearance by this web slinger and 3 feature motion pictures. His popularity is still going strong for a 50 year old superhero. That is why he is in 14 different video games that you can play with and be Spiderman.

The relationship of comic books and movies has been beneficial to both for years now. What most people do not realize is this relationship dates back to 1941 with the release of the Adventures of Captain Marvel. This was a production by Republic Pictures with John English and William Witney as the directors.

Since this early time, numerous comic book heroes have made it to the big screen. Other early releases included Batman in 1943, Captain America in 1944 and Congo Bill and Superman 1948. Blackhawk was produced in 1952, but that was it until the 1960’s when this genre started to became popular again.

The biggest explosion of comic book heroes turning to the big screen started in the 1980 and has gained force ever since. In the 1990’s there were three different Batman movies, then incredible Hulk has two , three Teenage Mutant Teenage Turtles but Superman took a break. This was because there was so many starting in 1978, then 1981, 1983, 1987 and then again in 2006.

The amazing Spiderman saw three movies in the 2000’s and Ironman made two. A majority of them became huge blockbusters for their studios and are still being shown regular on cable networks.

There were a few flops, Sheena in 1984 and Josie and the Pussycats in 2001, but that happens. Not every comic book hero is popular enough to spread to the main stream.

The advancements in computer animation that has helped bring to life the incredible Hulk in 2003 then again in 2008 have helped to make the newest films real to life and able to reach the star potential that was only previously possible I the minds of all the comic book lovers over the years.

Because of the latest releases and what is in the planning stages, comic books and movies will have a long life feeding off of each other so the rest of us can be entertained.

For those that crave comic books, a place has been created for you to fulfill your need for this literary art form. This is the Comic Book Cravings website that has been created for comic book lovers, by a comic book lover.

No longer is there a need to search the entire web for the comic book you need or desire to fill your collection. The breakdown of comics on this site is made for locating the one you desire, fast and easy. The categories include the time periods The Golden Age of Comics, The Silver Age of Comics, and The Bronze age of Comics, to name a few.

If you are in search of rare comics, then the rare comic books area would be of great interest. This includes the ones that are first issues, old, or just a few copies in original condition that are still available. There is another factor that makes a comic book edition rare. This is when there is a guest appearance of another superhero to either fight with or against the main character. This has been done to help spread the adventures of your favorite superhero and their possible audience.

A good number of collectors are investing in old and rare comic books as a way to make money in the future. While this is true, it is not the only reason. By holding on and taking care of rare comic books, you will be preserving a literary art that is appreciated by the masses. This is necessary.

While many of the older and rare comic books are preserved in digital form, the paper copies are what bring the joy and memories back from our childhood. So, when you crave comic books, please visit or site and enjoy yourself.
