When looking for rare comic books, most search the old comic book shops that are located in the big cities across the nation. This has been done for decades but with limited results. If you have a specific need then the owner might be able to find it for you through their connections, but it generally costs extra.

With millions of different comic books that have been produced over the last 100 years, there is one that stands above the rest in its value and being sought after. This is the original superman comic book.

The original superman comic book is really an Action Comic Book that was sold for 10 cents back in 1938. It has Superman on the cover lifting a car over his head while smashing it into a rock. This was the very first Action Comics ever published in June of 1938.

The condition of this first issue varies from comic to comic. With less than 100 copies of this comic known to exist, the value of even a worn one is over $10,000. On average one in good condition can go for $470,000. But like with all things this is a seller’s market. Supply and demand is always factored into the price equation. This is why in 2003 when a Baltimore business executive offered $1,000,000 for a near mint condition of this comic, not too many people were surprised.

His business was the distribution of comic book along with other collectables.
