The 10 top comic book heroes of all times include many familiar faces. The top three are very easy to figure out and the number one is a no brainer. With the highest selling price for a number one issue, several TV series and numerous movies it is of course Superman.

The second slot is highly debatable. If you look at longevity and strength of character then it would have to place Batman ahead of Spiderman. The Dark Knight has been around almost as long as superman. He too has had several TV series and movies to his portfolio. The reason he is billed above Spiderman is because when SpiderMan was being created, Batman had a TV running at that time that was highly popular.

Now we move on to the number three comic hero of all times, the Amazing Spiderman. He has the all time top money making first issue sale for a silver age comic. He too has numerous TV series and movies, plus he is just exciting to watch.

Now on to the X-man that outshined them all, the one and only Wolverine. He not only was the focus of the comic always getting into trouble, but the movies have done the same. What few do not remember is the Wolverine started out as a villain to go against the Incredible Hulk. His first appearance had him playing that part in the 1974 Hulk issue number 181.

Another team player that shined above the rest was The Thing of the Fantastic Four. He made his first rock hard appearance in 1961 with the rest of his team. Most loved was how his no nonsense approach and how he was ready to pulverize anything.

The rest of the list is somewhat more confrontational that the first leading 5 but it is leading with the Incredible Hulk, the Wonder Woman, Conan the Barbarian, the Green Lantern and Captain America.

This is the most accurate 10 top comic book heroes of all times. You will have your opinion, buy each one of these deserve a place at the top.

The amazing Spiderman has been a super hero now for 49 years. His first appearance was in the Amazing Fantasy issue #15 in 1962. The Amazing Spiderman comic first saw publication in March of 1963. In the next 10 years 100 different issues were published.

Since that early beginning there has been a continuous flow of Spiderman comics to the stands until December 1998. This was when the “Final Chapter” was published as issue number 441. It was 1 month before another Amazing Spiderman comic was published. The delay was never know, just the absence felt by all of his fans.

The Amazing Spiderman Volume 2 appeared in January 1999 with the Spider-Man Imposter, Scorpion. This went on for 58 issues. In December of 2003 the number continued as if volume 2’s number were immaterial. This was the 500 issue of Spiderman named “Happy Birthday”.

This continued until December 2007 when publication number 545. This was also when it was announced that the Amazing Spider-Man would be published for circulation 3 times a month. This began in January 2008 with issue number 546 and 674 is where it now stands today in March of 2011.

As of today there are 674 comic books titled as the Amazing Spider-Man, with numerous guest appearances in other strips like the X-men. There were also 12 different television series and appearance by this web slinger and 3 feature motion pictures. His popularity is still going strong for a 50 year old superhero. That is why he is in 14 different video games that you can play with and be Spiderman.

The Green Hornet and his side kick, Kato, have been taking down the bad guys for decades now. Unlike other superheroes that started out in comic books, this one first appeared on radio in 1936. His first appearance in a comic book did not occur until 1940.

This story line is about another playboy that had to come to reality when the death of his father occurred. Kato was one of two servants that were kept after the death. Kato’s original job was that of a mechanic for the mansion which the Green Hornet, whose real name is Britt Reid, now inherited. The ironic thing is that both Kato and Britt hated Britt’s father and vandalized his grave after a night of drinking. This gave the impression to the police that they were criminals.

This misrepresentation was taken advantage of in terms of the Green Hornet and Kato posing as criminals to infiltrate the organized crime syndicates that were locally operating. Kato’s handiness with tools was utilized to outfit the car with the gadgets necessary to make their escapades a success.

The Green Hornet is considered an American pulp hero, along with being a masked vigilante like Batman and the Lone Ranger. His popularity has varied over his long life that included several movies back in the 1940s, along with a short lived TV series in the 1960s.

He might have never attained the status of Superman, which is 2 years younger, but he has survived the test of time by still being around 75 years since he was first aired on radio in the Detroit area.

The Green Hornet has always been and will be a master detective with genius level intelligence and the ability to use martial arts to his advantage.

Silver age Marvel comics are in huge demand. However, if you're looking to invest for the long term, these 6 categories of Silver Age Marvel comics have historically and consistently outperformed the rest of the market and are the most sought after by comic buyers.

1. First editions / Number 1 issues -- Collectors like to buy first issues of a new series. This includes Spidey, Xmen and Fantastic Four. It most cases the #1 issues remains the most valuable comic of a set. If that first issues is also the first appearance or origin of a character or team it is always sought after.

2. Cross-Overs/Key Issues - When characters appear in another character's book (Daredevil crossing over into Amazing SpiderMan), these cross-overs are always popular with collectors. Battle issues between cross-over characters (Hulk vs. Thing,) have a high demand, especially in older comics. Issues which affect major storylines and/or deal with the death of a major character (death of Gwen Stacey) are always highly sought after.

3. Reintroduction of Characters - The re-emergence of older characters from an earlier time (Capt. America - Avengers #4) or a restructuring of present ones (when Marvel Comics re-introduced Ghost Rider) is in consistent demand by collectors. Consequently, the first series of Ghost Rider and subsequent appearances rose dramatically in price.

4. Age - Generally speaking, Golden Age (l938-l945) comics are still most valuable than Silver Age (l956-l969). But Silver Age books are more valuable than Post-Silver Age (l970-present) books and everything else. At the present time Silver Age comics are in extremely high demand due to the introduction of Marvel Comics characters in this era and the high cost of purchasing Golden Age material. On the whole, new comics bought today will never be as valuable as comics from the Silver Age earlier eras due to rarity.

5. Hot Artists & Writers - Popular artists and writers (Jim Steranko) can create extremely high demand for even second-tier Marvel comic books (like Agent of Shield).. Many collectors will follow these artists and writers from title to title and wait with anticipation for their next move or project. Demand is usually increased dramatically when work is done for a major character. For example Jack Kirby's work on just about anything remains in high demand.

6. Movie hype - Movies featuring SpiderMan, Xmen, Silver Surfer, Fantastic Four, Hulk, and Iron Man have all created a buying frenzy for their comics from the Silver Age. More and more collectors jump on the bandwagon and buy up several copies so as not to miss out on a potentially valuable investment. This in turn brings the price up even more and buying frenzy increases again. This kind of demand will increase the price of books very fast. However, keep in mind that price guides are based on retail or dealer sales, not on personal sales, therefore the true value of a comic will only emerge when collectors attempt to resell them.
