If you are looking for discounted comic books then the internet is your best friend. There are thousands of sites there that can give you access to nearly every comic book that has ever been written and published.

The site I like the best when searching to purchase a comic book is comic book cravings. This place has the organization that makes finding what I want and need very easy.

The two most popular comic publishers of all times are DC Comics and Marvel Comics. By placing them all together and subcategorized it is really easy to find just what you want. For those that would rather search by period there is also the Golden Age, Silver Age and Bronze Age comics to roam thru to find the one you want.

Other publishers that have their own spaces include Golden Key comics, Mirage Studios, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, and Harvey Comics. This is also the place to find the ever popular Archie Comics.

At the time of this article there was a lot of 8 Archie Comics being sold for only $0.99 that was dated from 1971. There was also a Veronica #202 first print comic book 1st Kelvin for less than $10.

The number and condition is varied since the sources of the comics are independent. The better ones come in protective coverings. There are even some that mothers are placing on here in bulk just to get rid of them.

Each time I visit the selection is different but it never leaves me wanting. I even enjoy just roaming sometimes to see what is out there on the market. One thing I can count on in each visit is there are plenty of discounted comic books for sale.

Thor the God of Thunder is the son of Odin and Jord. He is a Norse God that lived in Asgard many years ago. Unlike many of the other comic book heroes, Thor was a real life mythical being that had real temples built in his honor.

The mythical God of Thunder had been depicted with a red beard and hair, Stan Smith made him a blond in 1962 when he appeared in the comic Journey into Mystery in August of 1962. From the beginning he was one of the top members of the Avengers’ and he appeared in numerous series with other Avengers and in a limited series run.

It was not until 1966 did Thor get his own self title series named the Might Thor. This was going to be the 126 number of the Journey into Mystery until the title change. For this reason the very first Thor titled comic book is number 126.

This series ran uninterrupted from 1966 until 1996. That was a straight 30 years in which 376 issues were published. The publication ran for another 6 years from 1998 until 2004 where 85 issues were published. The third volume began again in 2007 and is still running today with 29 issues published so far.

Because of the full length feature film of Thor being released in 2011, Marvel comics have decided to run additional special feature issues in its honor.

One of the most unusual occurrences will happen next month. The original title of Journey into Mystery will be a series being published that stars Thor. Its number will be 622. At the same time the Might Thor comic will continue to be published.

The series titled Journey into Mystery will be written by the original writers of the series Kieron Gillen and Doug Braithwaite while the Might Thor will be written by Matt Fraction.

What is for sure is that Thor the God of Thunder will be all over the place coming next month.

Comic books are one of the cheapest forms of magazines to buy. Many of these comic books you probably read through the years while you were growing up, however Marvel comics has released new comics as well as superheroes for you to enjoy.

If you are looking for comic book prices for all your books, then one of the best places to get such a list would be Wizard Magazine which you can buy for a reasonable price and you will get to learn more on comic books and how much they are worth now. Wizard also has an online magazine and they also post the latest comic to be released and when it will hit the shelves. Since comic books also has a cult following, then it is important for you to know how much a certain book will cost and which store will have the magazine nearest to you, so you get to buy the comic book before other people rush in and get it and you find that a copy of the comic is already sold out which is bad especially if it is the limited kind.

There are other comic pricing guides that are available in the market today such as Overstreet and Standard Catalog of Comic Books. These comic guides provide you with the kind of information you need like where to get the rare and valuable comics and where you can get first issue comics as well as the back issue ones as well. The comic guides also document how much you can get if you decided to sell your book from the new to the old and rare kind. You can also look for a comic book appraiser to get book pricing.

G.I. JOE was the first boy's "Action Figure" in the world. G.I. Joe first hit the scene as an 11-1/2 inch "doll" for boys. What made G.I. Joe unique was its 21 moving parts for interactive play. G.I. Joe is named after the movie "The Story of G.I. JOE" which gained great popularity in the early sixties.

Due to the popularity of G.I. Joe, the Hasbro Company that invented the action figure decided to expand the brand’s line in 1967. Hasbro introduced the Canadian Mountie set of G.I. Joes.

Five years after the original G.I. Joe Hasbro was producing all categories of the United States Armed Forces action figures as well as many foreign armed forced. It wasn’t until 1969 that “G.I. Joe” went from being the name of one specific action figure, to the name of an entire line of action figures for boys.

By the 1970s the G.I. Joe brand was doing quite well and Hasbro kept thinking of innovative ways to keep their successful brand alive. It was at this time that they started producing the G.I. Joe Adventure Team, which was comprised of a group of soldiers all committed to the same goal as G.I. Joe.

As the seventies continued to evolve, so did G.I. Joe. He was given flocked hair, and even some G.I. Joes came with a kung-fu grip. It was in the seventies that the first superhuman team member was introduced, his name was Bulletman. Other new team members introduced in the seventies included Eagle Eye and The Defenders.

G.I. Joe found a force that he could not defeat in 1978 when the price of petroleum grew so high that G.I. Joe production was suspended. It wasn’t until 1982 that the line was re-introduced in a smaller size. The smaller size action figures were created as a direct result of keeping production costs lower to accommodate the price of petroleum.

It was also in 1982 that G.I. Joe was licensed with Marvel Comics. This partnership was very lucrative for Hasbro and Marvel with $200 million in combined revenue by 1984. At the time there were uniforms, weapons, vehicles and comic books rounding out the G.I. Joe brand.

Also in the early eighties G.I. Joe found himself fighting a slew of adversaries including the Drednoks. By this time the brand had grown so large that real human characters were being incorporated into the G.I. Joe adventure team. The first was professional wrestler Sgt. Slaughter followed by Chicago Bears legend William “The Refrigerator” Perry.

The illusory superhero Iron Man in Comicbooks, normally published by Marvel Comics and in the live action feature film, Iron Man was born Tony Stark. Playboy mastermind Tony Stark has the brains to make hi-tech weapons and the good lucks and charm to "woo" women off their feet.

His approach alters when he is arrested, forced to make a destructive weapon, and almost killed by one of his own weapons in a test. Kept lively by an electromagnetic chest shield that stops the shrapnel from penetrating his heart, Tony invents a method to stop his skill from falling into the wrong person (terrorist) hands.

He commences to produce a potent costume of armor to defend his life and ultimately uses it to get retribution on his former captors and encounter forces of evil. After that, he makes a decision to utilize his suit to defend the world as Iron Man.

Through his worldwide corporation, Stark Industries, Tony produced military arms and his own metal costume is laden with technical devices that facilitate him to fight sin. Stark is an outstanding scientist, by day and Iron Man, with exceptional power, by night.

The armor suit of Iron Man consists of the following features

The motorized exoskeleton known as the Iron Man outfit went through a number of alterations prior to building with a combination of gold and titanium. The outfit lets Stark fly and defends him from assaults.

The costume is power-driven by a mini curved reactor. The ultimate version of the costume consists of anti-tank missiles routing and retro propel jets in the palms, a Unibeam part in the chest that fires strong detonations, tiny anti-personnel arms in the shoulders, and blaze launchers on the legs.

The outfit functions with distant help from Stark's synthetic aptitude JARVIS and contains a holographic Heads Up Display. All these things make Iron Man a great superhero.

The Iron Man Costume

If you are planning to dress up as Iron Man there's the vintage, comic-book styled costume in bright yellow and red. There is also the sleeker and more modern, metallic red and gold costume based on the look from the movie. There are a lot of Iron Man costumes for every fan out there!

These costumes come in sizes ranging from infant to adult. Most Iron Man costume comes with all the Iron Man necessities, a cushioned "muscle" top and bottom as, gloves and mask. There is an Ironman suit waiting for you!

Thor Loves Comicbooks and Comic book characters like Ironman. He has created a website dedicated to Iron Man Costumes. These costumes are perfect for Adults and Children Ironman Costumes. Check out his site for more information on Iron Man Halloween Costumes.

However, comic books do not always come from the United States. The vast majority of the world has comic books. The European Union houses copious amounts of comic books. France, British, Italy are just some of the different nations that partake.
France has had comic books for a long time. The comic book author generally decides when the next installment comes out. Since it is the discretion of the author, he or she may take months or even years for the next issue to be published. The audience does not seem to be bothered with waiting. If it is the will of the author, so be it. The amount of comic books that are produced from France is significant comparatively to the populace, which would indicate that it is a popular form of entertainment. If there are many authors to choose from, then this lends to the idea of people not caring how long it takes to buy the next installment. The reader can buy a different title from a different author.

The British comic books are not as well know as their American counterpart. One of the more popular comic books that hailed from Britain was the Judge Dredd series brought to life by Sylvester Stallone. Although it brought to light a comic book character from Britain, most people did not know it originated from there. Marvel comics opened up an office in Britain in 1972. DC and Dark Horse comics did not open up offices there until the 1990's. It seems the English enjoy our comic book heroes as well as we do.

Italian comic books are strongly influenced by other countries. They prefer more adventure like stories that tell tales. Unlike America, where once a week you can find a new edition, Italian comic books come out monthly and are usually longer in length. The Italian comic book publishers immensely enjoy Walt Disney characters. They are the largest manufacturers of Walt Disney figures, other than the United States.

The Japanese also love comic books. In Japan, they are referred to as Magna. They are known for their exaggerated facial features, which were inspired by American authors. Japan had requested help from comic book artists from America to go over to learn contours, shapes and colors to help revise their comic books. The result was the exponential growth of comic books.

It appears that America has a big influence of comic books from around the world. The result implies that everyone, no matter where you reside, wants a form of pictorial entertainment. The pursuit of amusement with a glossy cover, colored pages depicting figures that face immeasurable odds, only enhance the benefit of reading comic books. The world needs a release, and through the sequential formats they provide, there will be a never-ending deluge of comic books to read. America is not alone in its need to escape and absorb into a fantasy-based comic book.

The genre of the comic book culture has many ardent fans. The readership proves that true. In that venue, the proliferation of comic book companies is astonishing. There are over one hundred comic book companies and many more that are defunct. The competitions to produce, advertise and distribute comic books are daunting. Each company tries to produce a character or characters that appeal to the masses. There are exceptions to that.

There are underground comic book companies that cater to a different segment of society. Sometimes they lead to mainstream because one or more of their characters gains acceptance. The mainstream comic book companies like to create characters that exhibit abilities that the public enjoys. Oftentimes it works. The hero of the story is believable enough that it gains acceptance. The acceptance is crucial for the comic book company to survive the harsh struggle it has to endure.

In other circumstances, the hero or villain does not relate to the readership and it quickly fizzles into obscurity. It is a painful process to the company, or the individual, that does not fulfill its perceived duty to the readership. All the painstaking work that goes into developing the whole spectrum of a comic book company is intimidating. The creation of a hero into an actual comic book denotes time, effort and a great deal of persistence. If the persistence is not enough, the reader will never have the pleasure of seeing your creation into fruition.

The list of defunct comic book companies suggests that many people have tried taking the plunge into creating a comic book company and failed. Unfortunately, failure is a realistic expectation in any business venture, especially the comic book world.

When you think of comic book companies, the two biggest and most popular are the DC comics and Marvel comics. Likewise, there are many independent comic book companies. Each one are vying for you to sustain their existence, and for your hard earned money. The latter one is understandable. A comic book company cannot survive without paid readership. The more circulation, the greater the money. Supply and demand. The law of economics. All of those maxims hold true.
Once the comic book company gains credence, their ability to construct more characters enhance their share of the market. The comic book figures are a representation of the comic book company. Marvel comics contain more cosmic powered heroes and villains than its main competition. DC has a horde of figures that originate from outside the confines of earth, but do not possess nearly the power levels of Marvel.

Other comic book companies, such as Dark Horse comics, use licensed merchandising figures such as Star Wars and Buffy the vampire slayer. Since Dark Horse comics is the third largest of the comic book companies, it must work. Using established characters from television and the movies was a natural extension of the comic book world. The popularity of the characters was well known so the market was already in place.

A comprehensive list of current and defunct comic book companies is easy enough to obtain. The reasons behind the success and failure are another matter. Some of the reasons expounded in this article should make them more lucid.
